Voice of Reason in Portsmouth Part Two

The above posting was made on the Portsmouth.co.uk on-line newspaper. There have been many articles about the 'Nil-Cap', but increasingly people are starting to question the prohibitionist stance. Most importantly, people are actively seeking to engage with the dancers so as to ensure their voice is heard. Prohibitionists hate this kind of thing because they delight in portraying the people that work in clubs as being either 'helpless victims' or 'apologists for the sex industry' and the very thought of being challenged is something that Object and SFN etc cannot cope with...

So let us hope that 'Kmjl' does write her questionnaire, does speak to the girls and does obtain both sides of the story....

  1. I suspect that there may even be a few defections (or possibly, some expulsions) from the Solent Feminist Network, once the more sensible activists hear the views of the strippers themselves and realise that they've been deceived by their more rad-fem 'sisters'.

  2. You make a good point, maybe I can to do something to help ensure the dancers views are made known to all....

    1. Please do: I suspect that certain activists assume that they speak for ALL women, and don't stop to consider either the possibility of an opposing viewpoint or the economic consequences of their campaigns.

  3. I think Object/SFN should rephrase Hugh Gaitskill's fight, fight and fight again speech.

"We will lie, lie and lie again to close the clubs we hate".

    1. One only has to look at the dirty tricks used by Object in Hackney and Tower Hamlets in order to understand the depths to which its members are prepared to stoop. Solent Feminists Network ought to distance itself from Object, and if its members oppose the very existence of strip clubs from an ideological standpoint, be candid about that and be prepared to listen to other points of view.
